A 20-year-old Harvey man was fatally wounded in a shooting Monday night.
At about 8:15 p.m. Monday, Harvey police responded to a call of shots fired in the area of 148th Street and Leavitt Avenue, according to town spokeswoman Sandra Alvarado.
There they found the 20-year-old victim who had suffered gunshot wounds, Alvarado said.
Jermaine Carter, of the 14700 block of Leavitt Avenue, was taken to Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, where he later died of his injuries, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
As of Tuesday afternoon, detectives continue to investigate, interviewing witnesses and pursuing leads on a suspect, Alvarado said.
Police believe the shooting is not random and the victim knew the offender, she said.
