Providence Catholic High School wants to be entirely in New Lenox.
The New Lenox Village Board on Monday discussed annexing a small piece of high school property on the southeast corner of U.S. 30 and Washington Street.
Before U.S. 30 was improved, the old Washington Street cut the land off from the rest of the Providence campus. Now the triangular-shaped property houses a parking lot and a billboard that is leased until 2020.
The rest of the school is part of the village.
The board held a public hearing on the issue two weeks ago, with discussion focused on the billboard. Director of Community Development Robin Ellis requested that a date be added to the annexation agreement specifying when it will be removed.
The board will vote on the annexation in two weeks, Mayor Tim Baldermann said.
