Evergreen Park man killed in Chicago drive-by

An Evergreen Park man was killed late Friday in a drive-by shooting on a street in Chicago’s Englewood community.
Lafayette Johnson, of the 2600 block of West 89th Place in Evergreen Park, was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:36 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The 34-year-old man was shot while walking in the 7100 block of South Eggleston Avenue at 11:30 p.m., police news affairs officer Amina Greer said.
Someone in a passing dark-colored vehicle opened fire, leaving him with a gunshot wound to the back, police said.
No one was in custody, and Area South detectives were investigating.
