Authorities searched Hammel Woods again Tuesday, but their reason for searching the forest preserve land near Shorewood remains uncertain.

Special agent Joan Hyde confirmed that the FBI is participating in a search of Hammel Woods with the Illinois State Police. Monique Bond, spokesperson for the Illinois State Police, said so far, nothing has been found and that the investigation is ongoing.

The FBI and Illinois State Police searched the 400-acre Hammel Woods Monday afternoon, attracting the attention of Cassandra Cales, the sister of the missing Stacy Peterson.

An FBI Mobile Command center truck was at the scene and an officer with a white-and-black spotted dog was searching the woods. Two people, a man and a woman, were seen standing on a walking path and holding shovels.

On Monday, Cales arrived at the woods after the search was completed. She said she had heard about the search but had not been called by authorities.

Stacy Peterson, the fourth wife of convicted cop Drew Peterson, has been missing since Oct. 28, 2007, shortly after telling the then-Bolingbrook police sergeant she wanted a divorce. He has been named by authorities as the main suspect in Stacy’s unsolved disappearance.

Drew Peterson was convicted in September of killing his third wife, Kathleen Savio, and is awaiting sentencing.

Joliet police said Monday the search had no connection to their recent efforts to find Linda Barr Fellenbaum, who has been missing since Oct. 21. Friends and family searched for the missing 32-year-old mother of three on Sunday.
