Marian Catholic High School’s marching band earned fifth place overall in the Bands of America Grand Nationals competition this weekend in Indianapolis, the school said.
Marian was one of only a dozen schools in the nation to reach the finals, held at Lucas Oil Stadium. It was the school’s 29th appearance at the Grand Nationals, and Marian has won a record seven championships at the competition.
The band this weekend earned second place in Class AA, and took first place in its class for Oustanding Visual Performance, the school said in a news release. The band’s competitive show was titled “My Brother’s Keeper,” a commentary on man’s inhumanity to man, the school said.
Last month, Marian won its 33rd straight Illinois Marching Band state championship during competition at Illinois State University.
