Romeoville police said a 20-year-old Frankfort woman died from a possible heroin overdose Sunday while visiting a friend at Lewis University.
Police were called at 11:10 a.m. after Anna Marinier was found dead in a residence hall. She was not a student at Lewis.
A subsequent investigation revealed that Marinier died from an apparent overdose of drugs, possibly heroin, according to a statement issued by the university.
The Will County coroner’s office said Marinier was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:55 a.m., and a ruling on the cause of death is pending toxicology reports.
Police said Marinier was on campus visiting her friend, Jamie L. Olson, 21, who “(took) steps to conceal her involvement in this incident.”
Olson, 9125 Letterkenny Drive, Tinley Park, was charged with obstructing justice and was being held Monday in the county jail. Olson has been restricted from campus pending a university judicial hearing, according to a university statement.
“The Lewis University community expresses its prayerful sympathy to all who are touched by this tragedy, especially family and friends,” the statement read.
School officials said counseling was available on campus, and the university continues to cooperate with police and the coroner.
