New Lenox will host its annual Christmas in the Commons on from 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 2. All events are free and open to the public.
This year’s event features a candy cane hunt for kids younger than 11 starting at 2 p.m. Other activities include visits with Santa and carolers throughout the event.
Free sleigh rides will be offered, and an extra sleigh ride wagon was added for this year, Trustee Annette Bowden said.
The Christmas Tree lighting is at 5 p.m.
There will be free hot dogs until 3 p.m. and free hot cocoa and popcorn until 5 p.m. Also new this year are vendors, including Petals and Twigs, Aunt Nina’s Sweets ‘N Treats, Sugar Forrest Treats and Lincoln Way High School District’s “Greeting Galore and More.”
All events are held at the commons, across from the Village Hall at 1 Veterans Parkway. Attendees are encouraged to bring a canned good or other non-perishable food item for the New Lenox Food Pantry.
