A Lockport man has been charged with murder seven years after allegedly shooting a man in the head and setting his car on fire in a drug-related robbery in Marquette Park.
Emil E. Kozeluh and Christopher Kronenberger lured Alexander Duran, 32, to Marquette Park about 9:20 p.m. on Oct. 12, 2005, for an alleged drug deal, authorities said.
Kozeluh got into the back seat of Duran’s 1994 Cadillac and shot him in the back of the head, according to court documents.
Kozeluh and Kronenberger then set the Cadillac on fire and fled, court documents said. Firefighters found Duran, of La Grange, badly burned in the car, police said.
An FBI task force arrested Kozeluh, 29, about 3:50 p.m. Friday at his home in the 16900 block of Alder Drive in Lockport, according to court documents. He was charged with one count of first-degree murder. Judge Edward Harmening ordered him held without bond Sunday.
Kronenberger, 28, of Westmont, was charged with the murder in 2006 and is serving a 60-year prison sentence, authorities said.
After he was arrested, Kronenberger told police that he and a friend agreed to sell marijuana to Duran, but he actually intended to rob him, police said. He admitted that they had panicked, shot Duran and used gasoline to burn the vehicle in an attempt to conceal evidence.
Kozeluh will be back in court Monday.
