A Markham man faces several felony charges after he allegedly took a woman hostage Friday at a spa on Chicago’s South Side and sexually assaulted her.
Byron K. Moore, 49, faces three counts of attempted robbery, three felony counts of unlawful restraint, a felony count of sexual abuse, a count of attempted criminal sexual assault and a felony count of aggravated kidnapping, according to a statement issued Saturday night from police News Affairs.
Moore, of the 16200 block of South Laflin Street in Markham, allegedly walked into a spa in the 3100 block of South Archer Avenue about 6:45 p.m. Friday and tried robbing three women, police said.
He then allegedly took a 40-year-old woman into a back room and sexually assaulted her, the police statement said.
The situation ended with the man in custody and the woman being taken to an area hospital with minor injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, said police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.
Moore is scheduled to appear in bond court on Monday.
