Woman dies after crash in SW suburb

A man is in custody after a crash in Tinley Park claimed the life of a woman on Sunday.
The two-vehicle crash happened near 183rd Street and 80th Avenue about 2:09 a.m., according to a statement from Tinley Park police.
Lubna Firdausi, 50, of the 16300 block of South 66th Avenue in Tinley Park, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she died at 8:03 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Police took into custody a 33-year-old man who was behind the wheel of a second car, the police statement said. Charges were pending as of Sunday night.
The accident is being investigated by the Tinley Park Major Crash Unit.
