Icy fun in store at Frankfort’s Winter on the Green

Frankfort will host its Winter on the Green 2013 every Sunday through Feb. 17.
The event will feature family activities from 1 to 3 p.m. at Breidert Green, at White and Kansas streets downtown.
This Sunday’s festivities will feature a live ice sculpting demonstration and a display of ice sculptures. The Alaskan Malamute Rescue Association will provide free dogsled rides.
A winter carnival with Frosty the Snowman, Rainbow the Clown, games, music and activities will be held Jan. 20.
Families are invited to build and decorate their own Adirondack sled and compete in the Iditarod Jan. 27 on Breidert Green. Prizes will be awarded for the best decorated sled.
Feb. 3 will offer Super Bowl activities with a Puppy Bowl at halftime. Prizes will be awarded for the best dressed fan among kids, adults and dogs.

The winter events conclude Feb. 17 with chocolate fondue treats during a Valentine’s Weekend celebration. Frankfort Boy Scout Troop 270 will demonstrate a winter campout and offer free samples of hot homemade cobbler.
