Homewood and East Hazel Crest will host an informational meeting about their plan to bring a casino to jointly owned land at Interstate 80 and Halsted Street.
The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Marie Irwin Community Center, 18120 Highland Ave., Homewood.
A presentation about the development will be followed by a question-and-answer period.
Village officials said they only will take questions or comments that are submitted ahead of time using a form from the villages’ websites at easthazelcrest.com or homesweethomewood.com.
The two communities are hoping to build a gaming and entertainment center if the state Legislature expands gambling to the south suburbs.
Homewood Mayor Rich Hofeld said the villages “have been told this is a very opportune time for this to pass.”
He said the villages will split the tax revenue from the development according to the amount of land owned. East Hazel Crest will have a 55 percent share, and Homewood will get 45 percent.
