LOCKPORT — A drugstore owner was arrested on a weapon charge after federal agents searched his business Tuesday.
Walter Beich, 59, of 17100 Parker Road, appeared Wednesday in Will County Circuit Court, where his bond was set at $50,000 on felony charges of possession of a firearm without a firearm owner identification card and possession of ammunition without a firearm owner’s identification card.
Beich’s next court date is scheduled for Jan. 2.
Beich is the owner of Corwin Pharmacy, 944 E. Ninth St., which was raided by the FBI at 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Throughout the morning, people were told the business would reopen in the afternoon so prescriptions could be refilled, and it reopened about 4 p.m.
Employees did not comment on the shutdown.
FBI spokeswoman Joan Hyde confirmed that agents had closed the business temporarily as part of “an ongoing criminal investigation” but would not comment further.
