A Blue Island teenager was killed Tuesday night in a car accident at 123rd Street and Greenwood Avenue in Blue Island, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Erik Rodriguez, 18, of the 13000 block of Seeley Avenue, was pronounced dead at 9 p.m. at MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island, the medical examiner’s office said.
Rodriguez was a 2012 graduate of Eisenhower High School, where he was involved in the Leo Club, an organization dedicated to helping students and others in need, Eisenhower Principal Gary Rauch said.
“He was a quiet kid, very polite, a good student and a hard worker,” Rauch said. “He was just a good kid, the type of kid you would like to know.
“It’s sad when something like this happens,” Rauch said.
Rodriguez’s family could not be reached for comment.
Blue Island police did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
