If you like to sing in the shower, you also may like to hear music in your shower.
A shower head with a built-in wireless speaker is just one of the latest ideas in home improvement that will be on display at the Springtime Home and Garden Show this weekend in Tinley Park.
This year’s event — Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Tinley Park Convention Center, 18501 S. Harlem Ave. — will be the largest one of its kind in the Chicago market, according to Dennis Carroll of the Ryan Group.
The show has grown this year, with more landscapers and gardeners among the 250 vendors, Carroll said.
New vendors include Anything Orchids from Frankfort and Stan’s Ornamental Iron, of Ottawa.
Visitors will be able to purchase flowers, orchids, bulbs and homemade birdhouses. A series of free educational seminars will be offered by local experts on Saturday and Sunday.
Topics include tips and techniques of vegetable gardening, flower and herb gardening, backyard living spaces/hardscapes, and garden soil.
Fox Home Center will showcase the latest in showering with sound, while other vendors will demonstrate the latest in wind generators and home improvements.
Kids will be able to plant lettuce in a bag and take it home or make a butterfly with the University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners.
The show is open from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Tickets are $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and free for children under 18 years. Parking is free.
