A 22-year-old Rich Township man who was arrested for severely beating and stabbing his mother Monday, then driving off after dumping her in a ditch, was ordered held without bond at a hearing Saturday.
Blake Springsteen beat his 46-year-old mother at their house in the 3600 block of Flossmoor Road, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office.
He then reportedly bound her, put her in the trunk of a car and drove her to Crete, where he stabbed her multiple times before leaving her in a ditch in the 900 block of Columbia Street.
Flossmoor police arrested Springsteen without incident Thursday night on a warrant that charged him with attempted murder. The arrest came after police received a tip he was in the area, sheriff’s police said.
At a bond hearing at the Cook County Criminal Courthouse in Chicago on Saturday, Springsteen was ordered held without bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing.
His mother remained hospitalized in stable condition as of Friday evening, police said.
