Bargain prices just might be available for two new Mercedes-Benz sport utility vehicles, but they’re going to need some work.
The two SUVs, one valued at $91,000 and the other at $65,000, fell off a trailer just after 9 a.m. Friday at the intersection of 159th Street and Harlem Avenue in Orland Park.
Moments earlier, the driver had dropped off another SUV at Mercedes-Benz of Orland Park, 8430 W. 159th St. An employee there said the man was taking the other two SUVs to another dealership.
The driver was turning from eastbound 159th to northbound Harlem “when the SUVs shifted” and fell off the trailer, causing the trailer to flip onto its side, Orland Park Police Cmdr. John Keating said. The man was driving a large pickup truck to haul the trailer.
The truck and driver were fine, and no other vehicles were damaged, Keating said.
Two lanes of Harlem were closed for a few hours.
