New Lenox residents should be prepared to welcome some new businesses.
The village board on Monday approved measures designed to accommodate growth, including national businesses, at New Lenox Town Center near Walmart.
“(The businesses) are names people would know, and I think would be happy about,” economic development director Nancy Hoehn said.
The village would not release the names of the businesses, pending the signing of the final contracts.
The board approved more room for truck docks for what are expected to be three small-box stores west of Walmart.
A multitenant building is in the works closer to U.S. 30. It would include five to seven businesses, including food, offices and services such as a hair salon, Hoehn said. A national food chain is expected in the outlot next to Culver’s restaurant.
The intent is to have the new businesses open by this year’s holiday season, Hoehn said.
