Two men have been charged with an April 9 home burglary in Oak Lawn, after an alert neighbor gave police a description of their vehicle, which led to their arrest the next day, according to police.
They said Anthony Grasso, 20, 8750 Merrimac Ave., Oak Lawn, and James Pelikan, 25, 20445 Coventry Lane, Crest Hill, are charged with residential burglary in the burglary of a house and its garage in the 9700 block of Brandt Avenue.
Police said guns, electronics and lawn mowers were taken, and an observant resident provided police with a description of a sport utility vehicle that was parked in the alley at the time of the crime.
On April 10, an Oak Lawn K-9 officer observed a SUV matching the description of the vehicle about 11:10 a.m. in the same area, and when he pulled up to talk to the driver, the person ran from the SUV into a house in the 9600 block of Brandt Avenue, police said.
They said the officer observed guns in the SUV that were similar to those stolen from the house, and Grasso and Pelikan were arrested.
A search warrant was used to recover the proceeds from the burglary from the SUV and the house, and the burglary victim identified the recovered items as those that were stolen, police said.
