Olympia Fields police on Wednesday continued to look for a man who robbed a clerk of several hundred dollars at a Speedway gas station, 3602 Lincoln Highway, just before 11 p.m. Sunday.

The man fled westbound after the robbery, and the clerk was not injured, Olympia Fields Police Detective Mark Akiyama said.

The man had been in the store at 10:30 p.m. and lingered for about 20 minutes before leaving, Akiyama said.

“He was walking around, which is odd. It’s not a Wal-Mart. He ends up leaving and comes back in about two minutes before 11. He goes to buy a cigar, and pulled out a gun and told her, ‘Don’t do nothing stupid, give me the money,’ ” Akiyama said.

The man waited for a homeless woman to leave the store before he entered just before closing time, Akiyama said.

Olympia Fields police released a photo of the man obtained from the store’s security camera. Anyone with information is asked to call the police at (708) 503-8100.
