Orland Park will host an informational meeting May 21 to offer details about the widening of LaGrange Road.
The session will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Orland Park Civic Center, 14750 S. Ravinia Ave., directly south of village hall.
Along with construction engineers from the Illinois Department of Transportation, which is overseeing the widening project, members of the village’s community relations office will offer updates and answer questions.
Preliminary work is under way to remove medians along LaGrange from 131st Street to 179th Street. Temporary pavement will then be put down so that LaGrange continues to have two lanes northbound and southbound when widening work begins.
Removing the median and laying asphalt are scheduled to be completed by Aug. 1, with work on widening LaGrange to three lanes in each direction starting later this summer.
Most of the median removal work is being done during overnight hours, although IDOT has said some daytime lane closures will occur between 6 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Lane closures are expected to be limited to weekdays, and any weekend closures will have to be approved by IDOT.
