In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Lincoln Highway Association, a vintage car show featuring 77 cars from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Germany will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Chicago-Alsip, 5000 W. 127th St., Alsip.
The car show is open to the public. Nearly all of the cars are considered antique or historic, and they were shipped across the Atlantic Ocean to Port Elizabeth, N.J., last month.
Motorists are driving the cars over the 3,389 miles of Lincoln Highway through 13 states to celebrate this milestone.
The Lincoln Highway Centennial Tour left Times Square in New York City on Monday — 100 years to the day of the creation of the Lincoln Highway Association — and is stopping in the Southland from Monday to Wednesday — and is to arrive in Lincoln Park in San Francisco on July 26.
The goal of the event is to raise public awareness and renew interest in the highway, according to the tour website.
