A 25-year-old Riverdale man was charged with murder for shooting a man and woman to death early Saturday after partying with them, Calumet Park police said Monday.
Karif Thomas, 37, and Nakesha Johnson, 21, both of Calumet Park, died after getting shot with a .357 Magnum at about 3 a.m. Saturday on the front lawn of a home in the 12600 block of Loomis Street, according to police.
Stanley Allen was charged Sunday with two counts of murder, police said. Cook County Circuit Court Judge Darren Bowden denied him bail Monday. Allen is next due in the Markham Courthouse Aug. 30.
Police pulled over a vehicle about 10 minutes after the shooting, and Allen fled from it, police said. After a short chase and struggle with a police officer, Allen was subdued.
Allen and the police officer were treated for cuts and bruises at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said. Allen was released into police custody.
Police found a .357 magnum on Allen’s person that matched the gun used in the murders, police said.
Police have not yet determined a motive.
Calumet Park Patrol Coordinator Gerard Corrigan said Allen and the two victims were “friends” who had been partying together the night of the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.
