The family of a Hickory Hills man killed in Frankfort in July when an auto crash skidded into him has filed a wrongful death lawsuit in Will County against one of the drivers.
About 10 a.m. July 20, Matthew J. Sayko, 35, was walking near 104th Avenue and Laraway Road when he was hit by a vehicle involved in a crash.
Sayko was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox and pronounced dead at 10:38 a.m.
Katherine J. Walsh was driving north on 104th Avenue, while another driver was heading west on Laraway Road, the lawsuit states.
Walsh drove through the stop sign and hit the westbound vehicle, pushing it off the road and into Sayko, the lawsuit states.
Walsh was ticketed by Frankfort police Aug. 2 for failure to yield right of way at an intersection and failure to reduce speed.
The wrongful death lawsuit, filed Aug. 29, is scheduled for an appearance Sept. 6.
