The event, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., will include a conversation after the performance with two Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra directors — Music Director David Danzmayr and Executive Director Andrew Bradford, who will talk with the audience about music and the orchestra.
Music will include selections from composers Igor Stravinsky, Frederic Chopin and Paquito D’Rivera.
The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra will return to the Rialto for three dates in the 2013-14 season: Dec. 2 with “The Magical Music of Disney”; Feb. 16 with Aaron Copland’s “Clarinet Concerto” and Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s “Sixth Symphony”; and May 16 with Leonard Bernstein’s “West Side Story” and Sergei Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet.”
Tickets for those performances go on sale Sept. 20 but can be bought in advance at the Sept. 19 free concert.
