A semi-truck rolled over on Interstate 80 Monday morning, killing the driver and temporarily closing the highway in both directions, authorities said.
Illinois State Police Sgt. Scott Angus said the westbound truck crossed into the eastbound lanes for some reason about 9:25 a.m. near the Ridge Road exit near Minooka and tipped over, spilling vegetable oil onto the highway. No other vehicles were involved, he said.
The driver was taken by helicopter to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where he later died. His identity was being withheld Monday night until family could be notified, police said.
State police said I-80 was closed in both directions immediately after the crash, but the westbound lanes were reopened about 10:45 a.m. and all lanes were open as of 1:30 p.m. after the oil was cleaned up.
