A man was struck by a car while crossing the street near Cog Hill Country Club early Thursday morning in Lemont.
The man was crossing Archer Avenue about 5:30 a.m. near Parker Road, but was not at an intersection, Cook County Sheriff’s office spokesman Ben Breit said. The crash happened near the country club and Mount Vernon Memorial Estates.
According to the driver and witnesses, the “pedestrian came out of nowhere,” Breit said.
The man, whose age was not immediately available, was taken to a hospital, where he was in stable condition, Breit said.
“We’re trying to figure out why this pedestrian was in the middle of the street in the first place,” Breit said, adding the driver did everything he could to stop.
No charges or citations had been filed as of late Wednesday morning, Breit said. Sheriff’s police are investigating.
