Sheriff investigates death of Ford Heights infant

FORD HEIGHTS — The Cook County sheriff’s office is investigating the death Friday of a 6-month-old girl from Ford Heights.

Raniyh Butler was found unresponsive at her home in the 1400 block of Park Lane about 12:30 p.m., after deputies received a call from the child’s grandmother, according to the sheriff’s office.

Raniyh was pronounced dead at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights at 1:11 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The state Department of Children and Family Services was not immediately available for comment.

An autopsy was scheduled for Saturday.
