Did you hear the one about the forgetful guy who stole food for a wedding rehearsal dinner? Or how about the brainiac in a Mercedes who stole food while drunk and then asked the cops for directions?
These aren’t bad jokes, according to Will County sheriff’s police, who arrested both men this month in Homer Glen.
The first guy stole food Sept. 4 from the Dominick’s store, 14200 Bell Road, but as Sam Litwiak, 29, put the food into his vehicle, employees got his license plate number and called police, according to police.
Officers went to his home on Chatham Drive in Lemont and found two 24-packs of pop and containers of coleslaw, macaroni salad and potato salad in the vehicle, police said.
Litwiak told officers that he went to buy groceries for a wedding rehearsal dinner but forgot his wallet. He was charged with retail theft. No word on whether anyone brought more side dishes.
The intoxicated fellow was Boris Petrovski, 20, of Willowbrook, who was arrested Sept. 6 after stealing some items from the 7-Eleven, 14310 Will-Cook Road, police said.
They said when an employee confronted Petrovski, he ran out and drove off in a Mercedes but flagged down approaching officers to ask directions to Darien and was arrested for drunken driving.
