Will County sheriff’s police are investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred at 1 p.m. Saturday in the 2200 block of Fairview Avenue in Lockport Township.
No one was injured, but a house and a vehicle were hit by gunfire. One of the house’s residents was home at the time of the incident but told police they had no idea why someone would shoot at them, Lt. Steve Talmontas said.
There were additional bullet holes in the house from previous shootings, Talmontas said.
A witness who was cutting his grass at the time told police he saw a green car, possibly a Ford, with two people inside drive down the street at the time of the shooting, police said.
An hour later, sheriff’s police recovered a green Ford Taurus about eight to 10 blocks away that had been stolen in Joliet two days earlier. Police are processing the vehicle but the witness could not positively identify it as the suspect’s vehicle, Talmontas said.
Police have no suspects and no shell casings were recovered at the scene, leading police to believe a revolver was used in the shooting, he said.
