An Oct. 19 food drive by Lockport Township Firefighters Local 1544 and the Lockport Township Fire Protection District collected several thousand dollars worth of food that was donated to the Lockport FISH Pantry.
Jeremiah J. Gericke, president of Local 1544, said union members, their spouses, and children, through the coordination efforts of firefighter/paramedic William O’Connor, handed out fliers, listing items the pantry needed, to shoppers at grocery stores in the Lockport area.
The FISH Pantry, a non-profit organization, at 604 E. 9th St., Lockport, accepts donations of non-perishable food as well as cash to support their year-round effort to assist the needy in the township. The pantry is open from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Anyone interested in making a donation of goods, money or time can contact the pantry through its website, lockportfoodpantry.com, or by calling (815) 588-3543.
