Cathy Espinoza may be a whiz at bringing out the best in a client’s appearance, but in these tough times she admits she could use a little help making her mobile hair salon more of a fashion statement.

So she recently accepted an offer from producers of “Steve Harvey” to appear on an episode in which Espinoza could meet a well-known industry consultant.

“At first when they said I’d be meeting Tabatha Coffey, I was like, ‘Oh, she’s a toughie,’ ” said Espinoza, who began her mobile salon, Hairs to You Too, three years ago. “But then I thought, ‘She might really help me.’ ”

Anyone who’s ever watched Coffey’s TV show, “Tabatha’s Salon Takeover,” knows the Australian-born hairstylist and television personality is not only a master at taming tresses, she knows how to whip a small business into shape, too.

The episode featuring Coffey giving advice to Espinoza airs at 2 p.m. Thursday on NBC-TV.

Espinoza said Coffey told her how to clarify her message and about the importance of beefing up her presence on social media. Espinoza also received $10,000 from American Express Open for being on the show.

“I’m slowly doing more on Twitter but my daughter laughs at me because I get hung up on commas and periods,” Espinoza said. “Old habits are hard to break.”

Espinoza, of Chicago Ridge, takes her converted transport bus, replete with styling chairs, hair dryers, flat-screen TV and even a shampoo bowl, to shut-ins across the Chicago area. Her clients consist mostly of senior citizens and disabled people, although she recently began servicing wedding parties. She also sets up at home help and senior citizen fairs. She recently began servicing clients at the Tinley Park Senior Center.

She said Coffey gave her some tips on how to reach a younger audience.
