A 13-year-old girl was cited Thursday in connection with a car crash last month that killed a 12-year-old boy and injured two other children in Olympia Fields.
The girl, whose name is being withheld because of her age, was driving the car Nov. 27 about 12:45 p.m. in the 600 block of Brookwood Terrace, according to a news release from Olympia Fields police.
Authorities believe she was speeding when she crashed the vehicle into a tree.
She faces juvenile citations of reckless homicide, reckless conduct and possession of a stolen motor vehicle, police said. She was released into the custody of her mother.
All four passengers were younger than 16 years old and residents of Olympia Fields, police said.
Armani Kreamer, 12, of the 2000 block of Corinth Road in Olympia Fields, was pronounced dead at Franciscan St. James Health in Olympia Fields at 2:21 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
He died of multiple injuries he suffered in the crash and his death was ruled an accident.
The three other individuals in the vehicle were initially taken to Franciscan St. James Health in Olympia Fields and South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, but all later were taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.
