The Madrigals from Liberty Junior High School performed last week at the New Lenox School District 122 Board meeting. Led by Elise Greene, the group of 18 students performed three songs.
All three of the compositions are from the Renaissance period, making the young singers “true Madrigals,” Greene said. Madrigals were a music composition that originated in Italy, largely considered to be musical poetry.
The students are part of an 80-person musical program at the school. They practice once a week, in addition to the other choral practices.
