Cause of death pending for man found in New Lenox Metra station

Updated: February 9, 2014 6:25AM

The cause of death of a 48-year-old homeless man whose body was discovered Dec. 2 in the Metra station on Laraway Road in New Lenox still is pending, according to the Will County Coroner’s office.

Richard Kennedy, whose last known address was 401 W. Webster Ave., Chicago, was found inside the depot by morning commuters, New Lenox Deputy Police Chief Robert Pawlisz said. His death was not suspicious and there were no signs of criminal conduct, Pawlisz said.

Kennedy had been in New Lenox visiting a friend, who dropped him off at the train station, Pawlisz said. Police, who said Kennedy was homeless, notified his family, who live in the Chicago area.
