A Worth woman died this past week from cold exposure, the 12th reported cold-related death in Cook County since late October, authorities said.
A neighbor called police at 8:25 a.m. Thursday after he saw Lynda Eads lying in the snow outside her home in the 700 block of Southwest Highway, Police Chief Martin Knolmayer said.
Eads, 57, last was seen alive Wednesday evening leaving a neighbor’s home where she had been drinking, and she either passed out or slipped and fell while walking home, he said.
An autopsy Friday determined that Eads died of hypothermia and alcohol intoxication, and her death was ruled an accident, according to the county medical examiner’s office.
