A Tinley Park woman was sentenced Tuesday to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing at least $772,000 from an Orland Park physical therapy clinic where she worked.
Rita Schinske, 57, pleaded guilty to one count of felony theft in connection with the theft from her former employer, Occupational & Hand Therapy, 14620 John Humphrey Drive, according to Cook County prosecutors.
They said Schinske, of the 11600 block of Tower Court, stole the money over a seven-year period when she was employed as the clinic’s office manager — writing herself more than 600 checks and depositing them into her bank account.
Police said Schinske handled all the business’ checks, records, bills and insurance company checks for 10 years.
Schinske was arrested in January 2012 after the clinic’s owners discovered financial irregularities and had an audit done, authorities said.
