Evergreen Park School District 124 Supt. Robert Machak has withdrawn his candidacy for the same post in Park Ridge-Niles School District 64, he wrote in an email to Sun-Times Media.

District 64 was expected to offer the job to candidate Laurie Heinz after contract negotiations Friday.

Machak wrote in an email Thursday that he withdrew his name from consideration for the District 64 job “more than a week ago” after a Jan. 9 visit to the district’s schools. No visits by District 64 board members were made to his school district, he wrote.

Machak was not immediately available for comment Friday.

Heinz is the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction with Skokie School District 68.
