Metra riders face multiple delays Wednesday morning

Multiple Metra trains are experiencing delays Wednesday morning because of equipment problems, mechanical issues and freight train interference.
Metra Electric trains on the Blue Island branch could experience delays up to 15 minutes in both directions because of emergency track repairs south of State Street, according to a service alert posted to Metra’s website.
Rock Island District inbound train No. 600, which was scheduled to depart the Blue Island-Vermont Street station at 5:20 a.m., is running 15 to 20 minutes behind schedule because of mechanical problems, according to the alert.
Union Pacific West Line inbount train No. 10, which was scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 6:10 a.m., is also operating 15 to 20 minutes behind schedule because of freight train interference.
Union Pacific North line train No. 304, which was due to arrive in Chicago at 6:45 a.m., is operating 15 to 20 minutes behind schedule because of mechanical problems, according to the alert.
Union pacific North Line train No. 308, scheduled to depart Kenosha at 5:51 a.m., is also running 10 to 15 minutes behind schedule because of equipment problems, according to the alert.
Metra posted a weather advisory to its website Tuesday morning, warning riders that weather conditions could cause delays Tuesday and Wednesday.
