Burbank man is Cook County’s 20th cold death

An elderly Burbank man who died Monday morning is Cook County’s 20th cold-related death of the season.
Elieser DeJesus, 79, of the 8600 block of Mansfield Avenue, died at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn from complications of hypothermia, cold exposure and coronary artery disease, according to the county medical examiner’s office. His death was ruled an accident.
Burbank police could not be reached Thursday to provide details about DeJesus’ death.
The last time the county saw 20 cold-related deaths was the winter of 2008-09, when 23 people died, the medical examiner’s office reported.
It said there were 14 such deaths in each of the past two winters.
