Three well-known pipes and drums bands will highlight the 15th annual Downtown Tinley Irish Parade, which begins at 2 p.m. Sunday.

The parade route begins at Central Middle School, 18146 Oak Park Ave., and proceeds north on Oak Park Avenue to 171st Street.

Community groups, schools and businesses are among the 50 parade entries, although the village expects a few more sign-ups this week, Donna Framke, the village’s marketing director, said.

She said the Medinah Highlanders, a pipes and drums band affiliated with Medinah Shrine Temple; The Chicago Stock Yard Kilty Band and Band of Brothers Pipes and Drums, comprised of active and retired firefighters from the Chicago area, are among the entries.

Aidan Cronin, Ireland’s consul general in Chicago, will serve as the parade’s grand marshal.

Businesses along the parade route will also be offering parade-related treats and festivities.

Central Collision, 18040 Oak Park Ave. will offer free hot chocolate before the parade steps off, while Creative Cakes, 16649 Oak Park Ave., will hand out free treats and the Vogt Visual Arts Center, 17420 67th Court, will offer samples of Irish teas.

Durbin’s Restaurant and Lounge, 17265 Oak Park Ave.; Ed & Joe’s Pizza, 17332 Oak Park Ave.; and Tinley Park VFW Post 2791, 17147 Oak Park Ave., will offer free Irish-themed live music following the parade.
