Palos Park man killed on Chicago’s Southwest Side

Updated: April 5, 2014 6:13AM

A Palos Park man who was the owner of a custom framing gallery in Chicago’s Gold Coast area was killed Saturday afternoon in the Gage Park community on the Southwest Side, authorities said.

Herbert Goode, 66, owner of Silver Cloud Galleries, 20 W. Ohio St., was shot in the chest in what appeared to be a robbery, Chicago police said. They said he was shot about 2 p.m. in the 2300 block of West 57th Street and pronounced dead a short time later at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Goode owned a mixed-use industrial building not far from where he was killed, according to his page on LinkedIn, the social networking site for professionals.

Family members, when reached Sunday night at Goode’s home, declined to comment.

Chicago police are investigating, but no arrests had been announced as of Monday night.
