Eric McDaniels, of Orland Park, has been named a top-10 finalist in a North American contest for the best winter weather worker.
The contest is sponsored by the Cintas uniforms and Carhartt work wear companies.
McDaniels is a tow truck driver who is busiest during the winter season. He was nominated by his wife, Jeannie.
“He relies on his many Carhartt jackets, base force thermals, sweatshirts and hats to keep warm in our ‘Chiberia’ (Chicago) weather,” Jeannie said in her nomination. “ ... He works many long-hour days that continue into many sleepless nights. This man deserves a break.”
If McDaniels wins, he’ll receive a trip for two to the Country Music Awards Music Festival in June in Nashville. Voting is taking place online until March 31 at cintas.com/carharttcoldcrew.
McDaniels is the only Illinois contestant among the finalists in the Cintas and Carhartt Cold Crew contest.
