Man hurt after crashing into train in Midlothian

Updated: April 17, 2014 6:39AM

A man who crashed his vehicle into a train early Friday morning in Midlothian remained hospitalized as of Friday afternoon, police said.

The man was the only person in a vehicle that collided with a train about 2:30 a.m. near 147th Street and Hamlin Avenue, police said.

“He ran into the train,” Midlothian Police Chief Harold Kaufman said. “The train didn’t run into him.”

The man was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn shortly after the crash, Kaufman said. The train was not carrying any passengers, he said.

Toxicology results were not available Friday, and the crash remains under investigation, police said. A crash report likely won’t be completed until early next week.
