The Just 4 U Cafe is open for business in the New Lenox Public Library, 120 Veterans Parkway.
Debbie and Mark Vejvoda, of Manhattan, have reopened the cafe, offering coffee, drinks, homemade soups, salads and sandwiches and pastries.
It will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
“I just love it,” said Debbie Vejvoda, who worked for the previous vendor, The Bookworm Cafe. “I love being around the kids and I love to cook and bake.”
The Vejvodas are the fifth vendor to operate a cafe inside the library in the past 12 years.
Debbie Vejvoda said they will offer “fantastic food” and “marvelous” prices.
A large, 20-ounce coffee is just $1, and a large latte — available in several flavors — is $2.75.
A 12-ounce bowl of her soup of the day is $2.75 and salads are $2.50.
Just 4 U’s menu also includes hot and cold sandwiches for between $3.50 and $4.50, such as an Italian melt, Reuben, three cheese tomato, veggie melt and a “Pilgrim feast” with turkey, stuffing and cranberry mayo sauce. Chips and a pickle can be added for $1.
Patrons also can build their own sandwich, selecting from a variety of breads, meats, cheeses and toppings.
Muffins, brownies, cheesecake, cookies and candy round out the menu.
Debbie Vejvoda said she plans to offer specials and coupons. The menu and upcoming specials will be posted on the library’s website, www.newlenoxlibrary.org.
