Beginning June 1, traffic violators in the Lincoln-Way area will have their cases heard at the former Frankfort Township Hall, 11008 W. U.S. 30 in Frankfort.
The Will County Circuit Court branch, which handles minor traffic and ordinance violations, will be moved from CD&Me, 23320 LaGrange Road, a private banquet/entertainment venue.
The court will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the first and second Monday, the second Tuesday and the second Thursday of each month.
Will County will pay the township $700 per day to use its building, about 30 percent less than the county was paying CD&Me, said county board member Jim Moustis, R-Frankfort Square, who’s also the Frankfort Township supervisor.
The branch court previously had used the township hall but moved to CD&Me due to a lack of parking, Moustis said. When the township built a new hall next to the existing one, it added more parking.
The former township hall is also used by other community groups, Moustis said.
“I can’t bear to tear it down,” he said.
