Fire destroys Palos Park home

A firefighter suffered a laceration during a blaze that destroyed a Palos Park home Easter morning.

Firefighters were called about 3:01 a.m. Sunday to the 12400 block of 80th Avenue, said Patrick Gericke, chief of the Palos Fire Protection District.

No one was home when the fire started, Gericke said. The firefighter was treated for the laceration and released.

Fire crews were on the scene until 4 p.m. Sunday. A damage estimate wasn’t available but Gericke described the house as a “total loss.”

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
