Updated: May 29, 2014 6:13AM

Roads and bridges damaged by winter weather will be repaired as part of Cook County’s 2014 road program.

The county said last week that about $5 million has been earmarked for repairing bridges over the Calumet Sag Channel at 104th, Ridgeland, Crawford and Francisco avenues.

Also part of the road plan will be repairs to retaining walls on Central Avenue at Midlothian Creek in Midlothian, and to bridges on Robert Road at Stony Creek in Palos Hills and the Ridgeland Avenue bridge over Interstate 80 in Tinley Park.

Patching and resurfacing work is planned along Cottage Grove Avenue between U.S. 30 and Glenwood-Lansing road through Chicago Heights, Ford Heights and Glenwood; on Kedzie Avenue between 155th and 158th Streets in Markham; and on Steger Road between Harlem and Cicero avenues in Richton Park.

The county is also planning sidewalk improvements and street lighting along Kedzie Avenue between 135th and 139th streets in Robbins.
