Traffic lanes will be shifted and one lane will be closed on Interstate 57 over the Calumet Sag Channel for bridge repair work, the Illinois Department of Transportation said Monday.
Drivers on Tuesday will find northbound lanes slightly shifted, and the same will be done on southbound lanes starting Tuesday night, IDOT said. The shifting is needed to do work on the right lane and outside shoulder of northbound I-57.
The department said additional lanes might be closed at night while repair work continues through the summer, but that two lanes in each direction will remain open to traffic during peak hours.
