A Worth Township man hit his mother in the head with a bookcase and tried to strangle her before killing her 15-year-old dog last week during a domestic incident, police said.
Christopher Krentkowski, 35, was charged with two counts of aggravated domestic battery and one count of animal cruelty, according to a statement from the Cook County Sheriff’s office.
Krentkowski on Saturday dragged his mother’s 15-year-old shepherd-chow mix out of a bedroom in the 11700 block of South Ridgeland Avenue and began to kick it, the sheriff’s office said. When his mother, 53, told him to stop, he tried to strangle her and hit her in the head with a bookcase, injuring her, according to the sheriff’s office.
Krentkowski then continued to “physically assault” the dog until it eventually died, the statement said.
Krentkowski was arrested Sunday, and his bail on Monday was set at $125,000, the sheriff’s office said.
He is next due in court June 26 in Bridgeview.
